Keeping MHK Moving

I can’t think of a scarier time to be buying your dream home. When faced with an invisible enemy— a tiny virus capable of wreaking immeasurable harm— how can you know your new home is safe to move into?

Within the past week, we have established a post-COVID-19 cleaning regimen that would be appropriate for the turnover clean that is part of the real estate transaction. It involves (spoiler alert) ozone.

How can you know your family is safe?

Effective cleaning kills the virus and leaves you with a fresh, sanitary environment.

Our Qualifications

I became the first IICRC Certified House Cleaning Technician in the state of Kansas in 2018, making Good Witch Cleaning Services the only residential cleaning company in the Flint Hills with formal training on the use of disinfectants. This past week, I completed my Ozone Technician certification so that I can safely kill viruses, bacteria, spores, and fungi by applying ozone.

The Process

I know you may be accustomed to the turnover cleaning process—a top-to-bottom scrub that leaves the house fresh and clean.

Step one is the turnover clean that you are used to. Step two is an ozone treatment. But what is ozone? And how does it work?

Ozone is a molecule consisting of three parts oxygen. A generator creates ozone by splitting dioxygen (o2) molecules in half. These free oxygen atoms attach to the o2 molecules around them, creating an o3. That extra oxygen atom reacts to the germs around it, destroying them. It can kill germs on hard surfaces, soft surfaces, and even in the air.

When improperly applied, ozone can cause respiratory harm; damage to natural fibers such as wool, silk, and cotton; oxidation of metals; and cracking in rubbers. It should only be applied by a highly trained and certified technician while the home is free of people, pets, and plants. The turnover process is the perfect time for this treatment option.

I know you are looking for options to ensure that your dream home doesn’t turn into an illness-inducing nightmare. Professional cleaning followed by ozone treatment costs between .40 and .50 cents per square foot. This is an excellent investment in your family’s well-being and in your sanity.
